INNERPARAKEET
iT’s that whisper inside you, nudging you forward. Always in the right direction.
InnerParakeet is the brainchild of Brian Cassin.
I’m Brian, hello! I was raised by marine and micro biologists. Many days were spent in boats, labs, and local swamps. It was out there that my curiosity and intuition awakened.
Video came into my life in college while pursuing a major in art. When asked to be in a documentary about graffiti artists, I started to suggest scenes and shots as they came streaming into my mind. The sudden jolt of creative energy thrust me from in front of the camera to behind it. I graduated with a double major in film and art.
As my career flourished I became an editor and cut promos and trailers for Showtime Networks.
One day, head against the window, commuting from Manhattan on the LIRR, the bird in a bowler hat sipping coffee came into being. It was the sudden insight into how I wanted to portray my company. A little odd, fun, but focused on business. The InnerParakeet is the idea that dreams and intuition are like a "whisper" that must be listened to, not a "shout" that is obvious. This quiet inner voice is what truly guides one toward their life's purpose, even though it's often hard to hear amidst other noise.
This is the guiding principle on every project I do, no matter its context.
My career morphed when I moved from NYC to Boston. There I began to work as an editor on science documentaries ranging from GBH’s NOVA series, to multiple TV docs about the various Mars rovers. This interest in science led me to MIT where I blossomed as director producing videos and animations for the Mechanical Engineering Dept.
I look forward to engaging with you sincerely and with heart. Collaborating on what ever idea you may want to bring to fruition. In a sense I help midwife creative projects. Nothing brings me more joy than of being in service to a noble idea.
In my day to day I’m passionate and curious about art, design, surfing , and anything weird (the weirder the better!). My biggest dream is to be a sought after director of Japanese commercials.
